3D Seismic Attributes for Reservoir Characterisation

This course builds a practical feel for which geological features 3D seismic attributes can reveal and how acquisition and processing choices affect them. Participants work through case studies, attribute selection for specific goals and reservoir workflows, linking multiple attributes back to the underlying geology.

Every course can be delivered in-house and tailored to your organisation.

Who should attend

Seismic interpreters and processors, stratigraphers, structural geologists, reservoir engineers and geophysics students who want to get more from attribute analysis.

What participants will be able to do

  • Apply attributes to highlight subtle faults, folds and lithology changes
  • Use attributes to quality check processing parameter choices
  • Evaluate attribute responses across different depositional settings
  • Recognise artefacts caused by processing limitations
  • Select attribute combinations suited to a reservoir objective

Topics covered

  • Seismic attribute fundamentals
  • Acquisition and processing effects
  • Fault and fold enhancement
  • Lithology indicators
  • Depositional environment expressions
  • Reservoir characterisation workflows
